Description

This LED bulb consist of 27 high quality light emitting diodes omitting 17.8 lumens each, approximately 480 lumens in total, that’s equivalent to 50 to 65w. They are intelligently designed to considerably reduce energy consumption by up to 90% and same time matching the light emitted compared to a standard halogen. The bulbs are available in both Warm and Cool white options made with aluminium housing and glass front.

These bulbs will install into any GU10 socket with an input voltage of 85 – 265V AC and is designed for any commercial, domestic or retail installation. Only consuming 6w of energy compared to 50w halogen, thereby offering significant savings that consumers should not ignore.

Lasting 50,000 hours compared to halogen bulb which only last 1500 – 2000, LED bulbs will pay for themselves within 3 to 6 months of installation. Homeowners and businesses can go many years without the hassle of having to change an LED bulb. Because of the way this bulb is designed there is very little heat generated compared to a halogen bulb. Most of the heat in this bulb is dissipated through its aluminium housing.

Main Features

  • 6W led bulb producing 480 lumens
  • 50,000 life span
  • Instant light – no warming up
  • Shock proof  - unlike filament bulbs
  • Environment friendly – LED bulbs contain no Glass or Mercury
  • Aluminium Housing for better heat dissipation.
  • 27 Surface Mount Diodes

Please Note:

Non-dimmable LED lamps cannot be dimmed. Should you fit a dimmer to non-dimmable LED’s then damage to the dimmer, lamps or both will occur.

Mains voltage dimmable LED light bulbs can be dimmed using an ordinary resistive dimmer. LED lamps are an attractive proposition as they consume very low wattage's and are very energy efficient. This can cause problems when choosing the correct dimmer.

If you have a few LED lamps to dim, then the total wattage will not be enough to load the dimmer. For example, four 5w LED lamps in a small room will only total 20w whilst the minimum load on a 250w dimmer is 25w. This means that the dimmer will simply not work. In these circumstances a low load dimmer rated at 5 – 50w would be required.

Under normal circumstances, so long as the minimum load is exceeded, dimming mains voltage LED lamps is not an issue so long as the minimum load is observed.

These replaced 50w standard bulbs. I was worried they would not be as bright or would have that blueish hue that some LED bulbs have but these are actually brighter than the standard ones. The quality of the light is better somehow too, I don't know how to describe it. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for bright warm white light from a 6 watt bulb. Very impressed with these so far. I used them to replace 8 conventional 50W GU10s in our kitchen and for all intents and purposes they're exactly the same in both brightness and colour. I was concerned that 3000k would be whiter than halogens but they're almost identical and use 88% less power. They should last longer and will pay for themselves in about 6 months, not to mention the lower environmental impact, so it's a bit of a no-brainer!

The build quality seems very solid but I'll update this review if I have any problems (Posted on 01/09/2015)

These lights give a more even spread of light than the halogen bulbs, and are very bright although not quite as bright or focused as the halogens. I have 8 of these now in the kitchen and they are doing a very good job of lighting it, and they cost about the same to run as just one of the old bulbs. I'm impressed with them so far and intend to replace all of the halogens i have with them, as for their expected working life - only time will tell if they last as long as expected! 7. Finally!! Review by Mark K

Bought 6 of these to try out. They are advertised as 6w LED but the ones that arrived looked like the picture but are marked as 7w. That is no problem though!
These are warm white, and its pretty close to Halogen white. Can't see the ordinary eye telling the difference, in fact I have seen more variation between normal bulbs.
The brightness is more or less the same as a 50w Halogen but the LED has a wider spread of light which may or may not suit your needs. I have tried other LED bulbs but found them to be very white/blue and vastly oversold on lighting output.
Lifespan is yet to be discovered but GU10 Halogens just last a short time here so they wouldn't have to last very long to payback.
Definitely going to buy more. (Posted on 04/12/2014)

Wonderful lights, replaced all my halogen ones in the basement. Much brighter and much cooler. Energy efficient too and probably more reliable; as I have had to replace dozens of my halogens in the last six months. However, LEDs that I brought will not work with dimmer switches. I used these to replace regular 50 watt GU10 bulbs in my kitchen downlighters. The light is brighter than a regular GU10 bulb but not as harsh as the pure white LED bulbs. I had 14 regular GU10 bulbs in my kitchen which burned 700 watts when my lights were on - now with these LEDS I get more light for only 70 watts - a massive saving! (Posted on 27/09/2014)

  10. Buy them Review by M Powell

I've tried a number of different LED GU10s but have never been particularly pleased with either the light output of colour. However I've been using these now for some months to replace 4 x 50w halogens over an L shaded kitchen work surface. Not only do they have a similar light output but also have a wider beam angle which has eliminated an annoying dark spot we had on the corner of the L. I'm mega pleased to be only burning 20w compared to the previous 200w but the winner was that my wife didn't even notice I'd changed them. That shows how similar they are to 50w halogens. There has been some comment about the life expectancy of early versions of LEDs but only time will tell.I shall be getting more to replace other halogens. (Posted on 27/09/2014)

These lamps are truly excellent. I have replaced all my halogen lamps with these. I have also replaced all my low energy GU10 lamps with them. They offer a superior light output to both types. They have instant full output. They run cool and so are safer and much more economical. They are 10 times more economical than equivalent halogen lamps and 2 times more economical than equivalent low energy GU10 lamps. They have superior expected longevity. Therefore combining purchase and running costs, the result is much more economical. I thoroughly recommend this product in every way. (Posted on 27/09/2014)

Bought these for the first time, replacing two of my 50W kitchen GU type halogen reflectors
They are quite bright and I must say an extremely good match for my conventional lights, I don't think that you wouldn't notice the difference easily in a kitchen. Light intensity is equal if not very slighly better.
At just 10% of the power usage this will save on the electricity quite a bit no doubt (Posted on 27/09/2014)

I ordered 2 of these bulbs to replace some older LED G10s that are quite dim and yellow. I need 4 and so wanted to check the light quality before ordering a further 2. I'm delighted with the light colour and so have ordered a further 2 bulbs today. I never liked the old halogen 50w bulbs nor the electricity cost. I recommend these if you like pure white light at 5w LED running cost. (Posted on 07/07/2014)

These bulbs were bought to replace halogen ones in a rental property.

We bought some for our own house about 18 months ago and they have been fine.

These new ones have come down in price and they have a slightly wider angle than the ones we have at home. So far we have had no problems with LED lights lasting. I calculate that these kinds of bulbs have an average 2-3 year payback. If they all last 3 years I will remain very pleased. (Posted on 07/07/2014)

Look just like a normal 50w halogen but saving me so much money.
Went for the white light option, which looks great in the kitchen and would be good in bathroom but I would go for warm light for lounge when I get round to replacing those.
Anyway, very impressed, will be buying more! Items turned up next day even on a Saturday with super saver delivery so very impressed! (Posted on 07/07/2014)

As warm white LED lamps go, this is a quality product with a colour temperature of 3000° Kelvin, ie very close to halogen/tungsten at 2700-2800° K. I would recommend trying one first to ensure the colour output was satisfactory before buying more... not because I have qualms about the lamp, but lighting is all about ambiance and perception. I bought something similar from a well known electrical trade dealer close by and I was Impressed even at just under £10.00 so now I had experience of these new LEDs so I went and bought 4 of these nearly 1/2 the price and there even better I actually have 32 bulbs in one room so from 800w my old bulbs to 80w and there brighter. Ok I've tried doing the cost electric calculations but I'm not that smart but I do know if it used to cost £50 a year now it's only going to cost 1/10th £5. I'm impressed with the light it produces which is nice (Posted on 23/05/2014)

I wanted to try this type of lamp in order to be 'green' and so save electricity. As other reviewers say, this is an exact fit for the standard GU10 - I have tried it in an open spotlight bar and also as a down-lighter. It does seem to be the equivalent of 50 w bulbs. I tried it alongside a 35w and it seemed brighter. I am a little disappointed with the 'colour' of the light - alongside conventional lamps it is much whiter. This means it can drain the colour from a room and is somewhat 'cold' So its a good lamp, but may not suit every room. Maybe there is a 'warmer' version. (Posted on 27/04/2014)

If you expect bright LED lamps, these are. They also are wide-angle, not spot-lights. It's good they have an alluminuim body, not a plastic one.
But the light they produce definitely is not warm white, it's quite different from the one of halogens. So if you plan to replace halogens with these, like I was planning, maybe your choice has to be something else. (Posted on 27/04/2014)

We were very getting cross with halogen bulbs that only last 4-6 weeks for the few quid they cost, so when we found these and tried them out we were very pleasantly surprised. At 6w they give out light equivalent to a much higher wattage bulb. We've now been slowly replacing our bulbs with them and after some 10 months or so, none of them have yet to have blown. They also produce a lot less heat than halogens which get worryingly baking hot and obviously the added bonus is they use a fraction of the energy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PURCHASE.
